Project Echelon :: X-Blogs

Blogs, Game reviews, Tutorials

It’s been a busy couple of weeks…

Hullo all

Today I decided to just open the editor and start to write a blog. I figure it to be a blog in the proper sense of the word as opposed to the themed articles that exist so far. I’m going to try to knock up my gaming thoughts and results for the last few weeks into words and just see where it goes from there. So sorry for the waffle :)

Enslaved - Action Shot

Sock it to 'em Monkey!

Gaming wise, it’s been quite a sucessfull week for me. After several months of trying, I’ve finally completed Enslaved, and on Hard difficulty to boot. I say several months purely because of Chapter 8, the utter bastard that it was. Amusingly, as I was ranting about being stuck on it to the Project Echelon collective, it turned out I wasn’t the only one. This stage has two massive wave after wave of baddies bottlenecks in it, and man those bad guys are tough. It was only through much blocking and dodging around like an angry frog on speed that I managed to do it. I’d like to thank PE stalwart The Likely Lad for his advice and encouragement that inspired me to get it done. Cheers that man. Have some karma ;-)

I’d also like to thank Ninja Theory for producing such an excellent game (except Chapter 8 of course, you gits). The entire game from start to finish is beautifully produced. Magificently lush graphics, stunning character animation and characterisation, all gracefully motion captured and acted brilliantly. Completing Enslaved has also resulted in me dusting off the Playstation 3 and going back to Heavenly Sword which I never did play much of. Very much like Enslaved, so enjoying it so far even though I’m only a couple of chapters in. I’m also really really looking forward to see what they do with Devil May Cry now they are developing the reboot of the series. I’ll be keeping a close eye on that

Rock Band 3 - Fingers On Fire

Widdly widdly widdly fret wankery

Enslaved wasn’t my only completion this week though. Tonight I polished off Rock Band 3 which I’m quite chuffed with. I played through it on Hard difficulty too, ‘cos I’m not quite masochistic or fleet of finger enough to crack it on Expert. Not unless I’m drunk first, then I’ll have a go. With the exception of Free Bird (widdly-tastic) and Slipknot’s ‘Before I Forget’ (bloody intro section), I think everything was 5 starred, so I was a happy bunny there. Lots more to do in it too, though I think I’ll wait till the missus is out for the night before cracking on with the vocals

Of course, there’s plenty more achivements to be had in Enslaved so I’ll be back into that again before long. On EASY!

In other gaming news, I finally started Dead Space which is pretty awesome, and I’ve spent two entire days of my life so far on Fallout: New Vegas, which is also awesome. And Marvel vs Capcom 3 is pre-ordered, so I’ll be knocking Captain America’s box in in a couple of weeks time too. Thoughts on that one will be blogged

Gaming is a wonderful thing. If anyone’s reading and fancies a game of anything, pop onto the Project Echelon forums and say hi, and hit me up with a message and a Friend Request and we’ll get somthing on the go. My Gamertag is Lithium007

Now, that’s a page of ramble and my laptop is burning my thighs, so with that, I’m signing off for the night

Goodnight all, and happy gaming

    Thanks for your thoughts Paul. I’ve heard some great things about Enslaved, and seen a bit of it in action too. It does look like it could be quite frustrating, but a great adventure none-the-less!
    Desperate to get my hands on Rock Band 3 as well, so nice one. Actually funny you should mention ‘Free Bird’ as that’s one I really struggled with on Guitar Hero 2… Just can’t move hte old fingers fast enough lol. Also looking forward to Dead Space when pennies allow, and I’m hoping we see someone doing a write-up on the multiplayer side to it soon too as that looks ace from the clips we’ve seen
