Digital content is big business. Since the current generation of consoles became Internet connected all the creators are out for more of your money via downloadable content, in game micro-transactions and full game digital downloads. But Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo have adopted different methods. Microsoft and Nintendo adopted virtual currency while Sony went for real cash value, but is either method better? Continue Reading…

Singularity Review

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Fight the past to save the future. Stop the Singularity.

Singularity is a pretty unique first person shooter.  In the single player campaign, you play US soldier Captain Nathaniel Renko who is part of a reconnaissance team sent to investigate an island known as “Katorga-12″.  The helicopter you fly in on is shot out of the sky by some strange tower emitting an electromagnetic pulse.  You awake on the island and start to investigate, leading you into a huge cover up by the Russian government and ultimately deciding the fate of the world. Over the years the game garnered Cult Status and I found myself wondering why oh why hadn’t I persevered with the game, what had I missed  I wanted to know what was all the fuss about , however having moved on to the next generation and not owning anything capable of playing the retail disk I was left wondering…….

The Dragon Age Tome

The Dragon Age Tome

I noticed today that alongside the release of Dragon Age 2 on 11th March the official guide to the game is also released. While not a new practice, it did make me wonder what sort of person buys a guide on day one? To me a game should be a challenge. OK, so I don’t want to be stuck and give in, but I also actually want to complete it of my own volition. Continue Reading…
